There are three simple steps to gifting stock to the Foundation:

1. Talk to your professional advisor about which stock to give - Stocks, bonds and other securities can be transferred as gifts to the Foundation. Your financial advisor can help you decide if you want to give stock that has grown in value, referred to as appreciated stock. People who give appreciated stock as a gift can avoid paying capital gains tax.

2. How to transfer stock - Most people transfer stock electronically through their brokerage accounts. You will need to contact your financial advisor and tell them:
a) what stock to transfer,
b) how many shares and
c) when you want this transfer to occur.

If you have actual stock certificates in your possession, then you will need to endorse each stock certificate with your banker or financial advisor present. Sometimes there is a form on the back of the certificate which explains how to transfer ownership. You will need to bring these endorsed certificates to the Foundation office.

3. To begin the transfer process, call or email the Foundation office - The Foundation staff can easily email transfer instructions to you or to your financial advisor. These instructions contain a series of routing numbers that will convey your selected stocks to the Foundation’s gift account. Once in the gift account the stocks will be sold and the proceeds placed in your individual Fund. You will receive a receipt by mail from the Foundation noting the number and name of the stocks gifted.
