Fund Types
Whether you are an individual, nonprofit
organization, corporation or group of individuals, there is a fund
that can meet your philanthropic needs. Each fund with the Wichita
Community Foundation is customized according to the wishes of our
donors.
The Wichita
Community Foundation currently holds assets of $61.4 million and the
trust of over 250 donors who have each created funds tailored to their
specific interests.
The following are the types of funds we offer.
Donor-advised – The donor actively
participates in grantmaking by suggesting recipients for the
monies distributed from the fund.
Unrestricted – The earnings from
unrestricted funds are used by the Foundation for innovative
programs designed to meet many significant needs and opportunities
in our community.
Field of Interest – The donor specifies
an area of interest, such as education, the arts, human services
or the environment, to receive the earnings from the fund.
Designated – At the time the fund is
established, donor specifies a specific charitable organization to
receive the earnings from the fund.
Agency – The donor of this fund is a
nonprofit organization. The endowed funds are placed with the
Foundation for management and investment purposes. The Foundation
regularly distributes the annual income back to the agency.
Scholarship – The donor or donors endow a
fund and establish certain criteria for recipients of a
scholarship. Scholarship funds are often established in honor or
memory of an individual or group.
Family Foundation – Similar to a donor
advised fund, the donor family may suggest grant recipients and be
involved in grantmaking without the legal and administrative
burdens of a private foundation.
